Among Bowen's other achievenents was his faithful recording of events in Marblehead during the early years of the Revolution, especially the coastal conflict between the Continental and Royal navies. This volume also contains an account of the history of St. Michael's Episcopal Church of Marblehead, as well as deliberations by delegates from Middle Atlantic and New England states in organizing the Anglican Church into the Episcopal Church in 1789 and 1790. There are also accounts for the period 1748 to 1750 for Marblehead fisherman John Palmer.
